Calcasieu Women's Shelter is a safe place for women and children affected by domestic violence. We opened at our current location November 10, 1992. Rape Crisis Outreach became the Sexual Assault program of the Shelter on January 1, 1994. We are a United Way agency and are also funded by DCFS, community donations and several grants.
We provide residential and non-residential services which are free and confidential. Some of these are: safe shelter, 24-hour crisis line, individual and group support, an extensive children's program, temporary restraining orders in specific cases, outreach services to Cameron and Allen parishes and outlying areas of Calcasieu Parish, counseling for anyone affected by sexual assault, and community education. We have many opportunities for those wishing to volunteer.
Calcasieu Women's Shelter is dedicated to the elimination of personal and societal violence in Southwest Louisiana. It is our mission to create social change through empowerment and support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, safe shelter for women and children, and community education.
